Bollywood is a platform that everyone desires to be in. While some get an easy entry into it – thanks to their godfathers or relatives who have already created an identity for themselves – others slog and try hard to make their presence felt in there. Today, let’s talk about those legacy families of Bollywood that have given their best to the industry and helped it grow.

1. Bachchans

When talking about the powerful Bollywood families, the first name that immediately strikes our mind is that of THE BACHCHANS! The mega star Amitabh Bachchan is a legend in himself while his wife Jaya has been the most admired actresses of her times. Abhishek is also doing quite well though hasn’t been able to match his father’s image but the bahu of this khandaan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has added more power and style to the already renowned family. The family is known for their ever stylish personality and glam quotient.

2. Kapoors

Prithviraj Kapoor stepped into the the acting world and with him came a whole lot of talented bunch of actors and actresses who are still ruling the industry. From his sons Raj, Shammi and Shashi Kapoor, to his grandsons Rishi (and wife Neetu), Randhir and Rajiv, almost everyone was a superstar. Then came the third generation of Kareena (and husband Saif), Karishma and Ranbir who stole the hearts just like their ancestors. While Karishma is not much seen now, Ranbir and Kareena are one of the highest paid actors today. And we are sure this powerful and talented clan will not leave Bollywood ever…

3. Khans

Yet another among the most powerful Bollywood families is that of the Khans. Salim Khan, the head of the family, was a successful scriptwriter in his times and his second wife Helen was the most sought after actress when it came to western dance numbers. Salim’s sons, Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail have carried forward the legacy with Salman being the most successful of all. While Salman is still a bachelor, Arbaaz’s wife Malaika is another popular actress who is often seen in item numbers. Atul Agnihotri, another popular actor of yesteryears is the son-in-law of the family and married to Salman’s sister Alvira Khan.

4. Deols

How can we forget talking about Deols when compiling a list of most respected Bollywood families. Dharmendra was a heartthrob of his times and known as the He-man of Bollywood. His acting skills were par excellent and his dialogues still rule our minds. His second wife Hema Malini was the dream girl of many and one of the most beautiful actresses Bollywood has ever witnesses. Dharam paaji’s sons Sunny and Bobby Deol have worked in many movies and proved their talent while Esha couldn’t establish herself as well and preferred settling down instead of pushing her luck. Ahaana, Hema’s younger daughter never touched the glamour world and is happy in her married life. We hope the legacy continues and we get to see Sunny and Bobby’s kids entertaining us as well as their predecessors.

5. Mukherjees

One of the biggest families of Bollywood who have had almost everyone in their family work in this industry is the Mukherjee clan. From Sha Mukherjee, founder of Filmistan Studios to Kajol, Rani and Ayan Mukherjee, the family has given many talented people to this industry. Shomu Mukherjee, Kajol’s dad was a writer, producer and director who married the beautiful actress Tanuja and had two beautiful daughters Kajol and Tanisha. While Kajol made her mark, Tanisha was a dud. Kajol’s cousin Rani is another successful actress of this family. Another of Kajol’s cousin, Ayan Mukherjee is doing very well behind the cameras as a director and has successful movies like ‘Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Wake up Sid’ and ‘Swades’ to his name. Kajol’s husband, Ajay Devgn has added another superstar to their already reigning talent.
